CCS Kolkata Team Updates
The CCS team in Kolkata continues to play an important role in supporting Harris Spice’s global operations. Earlier this year, the team came together to celebrate the new year and strengthen team connections through several local events.
Team Picnic and New Year Celebration
The CCS Kolkata team kicked off the year with their annual picnic and a team lunch to celebrate the new year. Events like these offer an opportunity for colleagues to connect outside of day-to-day work and strengthen the sense of community within the office.
The gathering brought together team members from across departments, creating a relaxed environment for everyone to share a meal and celebrate the start of a new year together.
Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives
The Kolkata office continues to support workplace inclusion and employee well-being through ongoing diversity and inclusion efforts.
As part of these initiatives, the team has implemented policies aligned with India’s POSH Act (Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act), helping ensure a safe and respectful workplace environment for all employees.
These efforts reinforce Harris Spice’s broader commitment to maintaining a workplace culture built on respect, accountability, and inclusion across all of our global locations.

Harris Global Foundation Updates
This year we have renamed our company’s charitable foundation as the Harris Global Foundation. While the name has evolved, our mission remains the same: to positively impact the communities where our spices are grown and sourced.
Our Mission
The Harris Global Foundation focuses on supporting farming communities around the world with initiatives centered on:
- Health and safety
- Education
- Sustainability
These efforts reflect our long-standing belief that supporting the people behind our supply chain is essential to building a more sustainable and responsible spice industry.
Supporting the Da Lak Flood Communities
In February 2026, the Harris Global Foundation donated $10,000 to support families affected by flooding in the Da Lak region of Vietnam.
The donation will help provide financial support and repairs for families connected to the Long Hoa Primary School, helping the community recover and rebuild following the severe weather events earlier this year.
Continuing Our Commitment
Through the Harris Global Foundation, we will continue to work with our sourcing partners and local communities to support programs that strengthen education, improve safety, and promote sustainable farming practices in the regions where our spices originate.

Spice Spotlight: Turmeric
Turmeric is one of the most widely recognized spices in the world, valued for both its culinary role and its growing presence in wellness-oriented products. Derived from the dried rhizome of Curcuma longa, turmeric brings a distinctive golden color and earthy warmth to a wide range of global cuisines.
Culinary Uses
Turmeric is best known as a core ingredient in South Asian cooking, where it contributes both flavor and color to dishes such as curries, dals, and rice preparations. Its mild bitterness and earthy aroma pair well with spices like cumin, coriander, ginger, and black pepper.
Today, turmeric is also widely used across many food categories, including:
- Prepared sauces and marinades
- Seasoning blends and dry rubs
- Plant-based and functional food products
- Beverages such as golden milk and turmeric lattes
In many applications, turmeric serves as both a flavoring ingredient and a natural coloring agent.
Interest in Functional Ingredients
In recent years, turmeric has gained broader attention due to curcumin, a naturally occurring compound that has been widely studied for its potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
While research continues and product claims should be approached carefully, turmeric has become a familiar ingredient in wellness-focused foods, beverages, and supplements. This increased consumer awareness has contributed to growing demand across both culinary and nutraceutical markets.
Sourcing Regions
Turmeric is primarily cultivated in tropical regions with warm climates and well-drained soils. India remains the largest producer globally and has long been central to turmeric cultivation and processing.
Other important producing regions include:
- Vietnam
- Indonesia
- Thailand
- Parts of Central America
Depending on origin and processing, turmeric can vary in color intensity, flavor profile, and curcumin content.
Common Blends and Applications
Turmeric plays a central role in many spice blends and seasoning systems, including:
- Curry powders
- Masala blends
- Tandoori seasonings
- Pickling spice mixtures
In many of these blends, turmeric contributes the signature golden hue that consumers immediately recognize.
A Staple in Global Spice Supply
As interest in globally inspired flavors and functional ingredients continues to grow, turmeric remains one of the most important spices in both culinary and industrial applications. Its versatility across food manufacturing, seasoning blends, and wellness-oriented products continues to make it a key ingredient in the global spice market.
